We offer affordable diagnostic testing for dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities. 

Evaluations are typically scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings and last approximately 3-5 hours, depending on the age of the student.  The evaluation fee is based on testing time and includes the written report and parent feedback meeting.  The cost for this assessment typical ranges between $900-$1200.

Unlike most comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations performed by psychologists, we focus specifically on the reading process and adhere to the International Dyslexia Association standards for testing and evaluation.  This allows us to provide diagnostic evaluations at more affordable rates. A comprehensive report is provided which includes diagnostic details, recommendations for support, academic accommodations, parent resources, and advocacy information.   Reports are sent out within three weeks of the testing date but they can be expedited upon request. 

  • Early Literacy Assessment: includes the assessment of the foundational skills that have been demonstrated by research to be critical for becoming a successful reader.

    • Oral Language /Listening Comprehension Skills
    • Vocabulary Development
    • Phonological Awareness – an individual’s awareness of and access to the sound structure of his/her oral language
    • Phonological or Language-Based Memory – ability to recall sounds, syllables, words
    • Rapid Automatic Naming – speed of naming objects, colors, digits, or letters
    • Receptive Vocabulary – understanding of words heard
    • Beginning Phonics Skills – understanding of the symbol (letter) to the sound(s) relationship, either individually or in combination with other letters
  • Assessments are tailored to meet the needs of each individual child.  Classroom performance, academic records, writing samples, previous testing, family history and developmental history are also taken into account when planning the assessment. As recommended by the International Dyslexia Association, the following skills are assessed:

    • Oral Language /Listening Comprehension Skills
    • Vocabulary Development
    • Phonological Awareness – an individual’s awareness of and access to the sound structure of his/her oral language
    • Phonological or Language-Based Memory – ability to recall sounds, syllables, words
    • Rapid Automatic Naming – speed of naming objects, colors, digits, or letters
    • Receptive Vocabulary – understanding of words heard
    • Phonics Skills – understanding of the symbol (letter) to the sound(s) relationship, either individually or in combination with other letters
    • Decoding –ability to use symbol-sound associations to identify (read – pronounce) both Real Words and Nonsense Words
    • Oral Reading Fluency – ability to read accurately and at a good pace to support comprehension
    • Spelling
    • Writing- Sentence Level and Paragraph Level
